Discerning Marriage? Seeking Catholic Friendships?

An Open Letter to the Parishioners

Dear Parishioners,

I feel very honored to be the pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish. In the short time that I have been here, I have witnessed the "Catholic Faith in Action."

In my opinion, St John's is an excellent example of what "Church" should be. Church is a community of God's people accepting their baptismal responsibility to make the Kingdom of God a reality in today's world. The challenge of being Church in today's modern, secular world is not easy, but this great community has risen to meet this challenge.

The Gospel calls us to follow the example of Jesus, who came to serve, not to be served. Jesus came to do His Father's will, not His will.

I thank each one of you for all the service you have given to God's people through this great parish. I am grateful for your support and your friendship.

Sincerely in the Divine Word,

Father Xavier Cooney, SVD
Pastor
